The first set of photos are the Rock at the Valley Church was visited by LAPD finest which included Sergeant Ashfar Hanna and officer Cayetth. VNNC board member and Outreach Committee chairperson Maria Skelton who was at the last Sunday’s church event says ” I want to say thanks for making the meet and greet with the officers . It was a great event . The community was able to ask questions and see that the Van Nuys Police officers are here for us. We had a good time.
There was a kid that said he didn’t like cops but when the officers started playing football with the kid, he changes his mind and he now like cops and their cars now.
The second sets of photos were from the Love Fest 2015 at Downtown Los Angeles. The Love Fest 2015 was held Saturday September 19th at the corner of 5th and San Pedro.
The vision for holding Love Fest came to William Binion Pastor of Perpetual Praise Worship Center in Canoga Park while hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner for the women at the Downtown Women’s Center. After sharing this vision with others it was decided that Love Fest would be hosted under the heading of Kingdom Minds. This way all who took part in the Love Fest would receive equal honor for their efforts no matter how big or how small. The idea was to bridge the community of downtowns homeless, the residence and the church together for one day of worship and love. And better place to host this event than the corner of 5th and San Pedro where these worlds meet…
The third set of photos is from Saturday Night Lights Summer program at Delano Park in Van Nuys. VNNC Board Member and Outreach Committee Chairperson received a certificate for volunteering for the Mayor’s SNL summer program. Mary was so nice to all of the kids, staff and I. Maria is truly thankful to the Mayor for an outstanding event for many families. All of the Delano Park staff was outstanding. Thanks again!
The fourth set of photos is from the Job and Resource Fair with US Congressman Tony Cardenas. Maria had a blessed time volunteering and meeting new people at the job fair last weekend. It was a success. Tony Cardenas, spoke from his heart and told people about his upbringing. He took the time to visit every booth, take photos and speak to everyone.
