This month’s workshop will focus on the various options available to landlords to adjust rents legally under the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO). There are six option for increasing rent that do not require the City’s approval and four options that do require approval. Do you know what they are and how to take advantage of them?
The workshop will discuss programs that help landlords recover costs for work done on the property, such as the Capital Improvement Program and the Primary Renovation Program. Also covered are other rent increase options such as the annual allowable increase, increases for additional tenants, increases to cover the costs of installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and annual registration and SCEP fees.
This workshop is recommended for landlords and their family members who assist or will assist them in managing their properties, anyone contemplating buying or selling rental property in the City of Los Angeles, tenants, banks, and lenders, trustees, servicing companies, and listing agents.
The workshops will be presented by the Department’s Rent Stabilization Division staff.
