Join us on the last day of the CleanUp and keep the River Beautiful!
More than 3,000 volunteers came out to clean up the Upper and Middle portions of the L.A. River the past two weekends. It was incredible! Together we removed more trash from the L.A. River than we did all last year.
This Saturday’s CleanUp focuses on the Lower portions of the L.A. River.
Choose from three volunteer sites on April 25:
- Lower Compton Creek is a tributary to the River and is home to herons, egrets and lots of butterflies. The River Rover will brings its hands-on exhibits to volunteers at this site on the day of the CleanUp.
- Willow Street Estuary in Long Beach is the beginning of the last unpaved section of the River, and it’s only two miles from the ocean. People have spotted lots of shorebirds and even a few dolphins here!
- The Golden Shore Reserve is one of the few remaining wetlands left in Los Angeles. You can see the Aquarium and the Queen Mary from this site, but be sure to claim a spot soon because this fragile reserve is limited to 100 volunteers.
We’ll be working and celebrating together from 9:00 AM to Noon. Each CleanUp location will have live bands, giveaways, family activities and refreshments throughout the day. All volunteers get a tote bag and a t-shirt designed by local artist Christian Kasperkovitz.
