La Brea Bakery expands in Van Nuys, creates new jobs

(Van Nuys, CA): La Brea Bakery is expanding its Van Nuys facility by adding 66,000 square feet, an expansion that is expected to bring 115 new jobs to the area.

Councilwoman Nury Martinez attended the bakery’s official ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday along with La Brea Bakery and ARYZTA Americas CEO John Yamin and Ronan Minahan, COO ARYZTA Americas.

The additional square footage creates a total space of 130,000 square feet to the facility. The add-on allows for production of two new Artisan bread lines, which previously only operated on the East Coast. “Adding a West Coast production location ensures the highest-quality foods to local customers while reducing transportation needs and environmental impact,” says a company spokesperson.

The company plans to recruit for the new job openings within the community, online and through job fairs.

La Brea Bakery has been a Los Angeles institution for 25 years and operates bake houses in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, La Mirada as well as in New Jersey and Illinois.
