818 Day Heroes Among Us: Honoring Our Valley First Responders was celebrated this August 18, 2024
VNNC President Kathy Schreiner presented a certificate to LAFD Valley Bureau Robert Barna, Battalion 10 Chief, Valley Bureau to thank him for his service and the great work of the LAFD in Van Nuys.
This year a group of San Fernando Valley community groups, businesses, and residents have come together to launch the inaugural 818 Week observation. The theme of the media event is to honor the Valley’s first responders who cared for our Valley families, businesses, and stakeholders during the COVID-19 pandemic. The is a community-driven commemoration that engages Valley children, families, communities, elected officials, faith leaders, businesses, law enforcement, community-based organizations and other stakeholders organized by Van Nuys’ Insight Center for Community Economic Development.
