We want to welcome our Board members and the public to the Van Nuys Neighborhood Cpuncil’s first in-person Board meeting in 3 years. The meeting will take place at our “usual” meeting place — the conference room of the Braude Building — on Wednesday, April 12th at 7 p.m. The address is 6262 Van Nuys Blvd. The entrance is on the SE corner of Sylvan and Van Nuys Blvd.
We wish we could make it possible to have some people attend in person and others on Zoom. However, the Brown Act does not allow this, and we do not have the technical capabilities yet to conduct a “hybrid” meeting. (We are grateful to State Senators Portantino and Menjivar for sponsoring SB 411. If passed, it has the potential to amend the Brown Act to allow Neighborhood Councils to be able to hold hybrid meetings and virtual meetings in the future.)
For those of you who might want to attend one of our Committee meetings, here is how we will schedule those meetings for the next few months. Because we are required to have all Committee meetings in person in an ADA approved space, we have decided to schedule the committees that have business to conduct on the same date (April 26th, fourth Wednesday of the month) at the Braude Bldg. conference room. We will publish a schedule to show which Committees will be meeting, and the starting time of each meeting.
We hope some of you will join us on Wednesday. Here are key topics for discussion:
- Application for Neighborhood Purposes grant to support Juneteenth celebration
- Community impact statement to support preservation of mature trees
- Community outreach ideas
