Tuesday, January 23, 2024 VNNC President Kathy Schreiner and Vice President Maduka Nkuku were on hand to provide refreshments on behalf of the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council for volunteers of the homeless count. The homeless count is an annual census across the county of Los Angeles aimed at assessing the state of our homeless crisis. An accurate count allows us to secure and allocate the necessary resources.
Mike Browning (former VNNC President) coordinated the Van Nuys count. Volunteers gathered at the Mid-Valley YMCA. Mike wrote the VNNC the next morning: “Van Nuys Neighborhood Council, I want to thank your council for the stellar presentation of refreshments for the Van Nuys Homeless Count 2024. Your display really set a pleasant community-friendly tone for an otherwise busy and stressful time.”
