We had a wonderful turnout at the Valerio Street cleanup on October 23, 2022. The Van Nuys Neighborhood Council (VNNC) partnered with the Block Captain from the local Neighborhood Watch, Council District 6, the Senior Lead Officer for the area being beautified, and Volunteers Cleaning Communities (VCC). Together, we picked up over 30 bags of trash and beautified the neighborhood. Thank you to those individuals and families who came from Woodland Hills and North Hollywood to lend a hand.

We can no longer wait for government to clean our streets. We as individuals represent our government and must actively participate in maintaining our own communities. We can lead by example and teach others the value of taking care of our streets.

One of the neighborhood participants was not physically able to participate in cleaning up trash, so she opened her heart and her home providing a little motivation, iced tea and pumpkin bread. Another volunteer named Cash is 83 years old and as of October 23rd, has been volunteering with VCC for 183 days straight. If you are looking for community or a way to make a difference in your community, give VCC a try! Contact Jill Mather to find out how!
