Van Nuys celebrated the opening of the new LAFD 39 station on Saturday, November 2, 2019. It was once the oldest active fire station in Los Angeles, but now is in a new structure with state of the art facilities and equipment. Everyone enjoyed a pancake breakfast and an opportunity to tour the station and view the equipment as part of the festivities.
VNNC Vice President Michael Browning, Secretary John Hendry, Board Member Jennifer Febre and other VNNC Board Members were on hand for this great community celebration. Thank you to Councilwoman Nury Martinez, Councilman Paul Krekorian, Congressman Tony Cárdenas, LAFD Chief Ralph Terrazas, the construction team and all those who are now serving at station 39.
