CALL FOR “COOL BLOCK” LEADERS!
The Neighborhood Council Sustainability Alliance (NCSA) is excited to collaborate with the City of Los Angeles and Empowerment Institute to launch “Cool Blocks LA”, an innovative program that will support Neighborhood Councils in empowering residents to measurably improve quality of life in LA, block by block.
The NCSA invites Neighborhood Councils to help identify potential “Cool Block” leaders to engage their neighbors in this pilot program.
Cool Blocks LA uses a proven, powerful neighbor-to-neighbor learning and support model that has helped thousands of people make their neighborhoods safer and healthier, prepare for disasters, save money, and lighten their environmental impact.
Cool Block teams – comprised of 5 to 8 households on a block or in a building – will participate in a guided, five-month program to green their neighborhoods, make it safer and more resilient to earthquakes and other disasters, or decide with their neighbors to do whatever is right for their area.
Cool Blocks LA offers an easy and effective opportunity for Neighborhood Councils to engage their residents, build stronger communities, expand or capitalize on community leadership skills, and improve quality of life in their community, with full support from the NCSA.
Click here for more information, and come to our Cool Blocks Café on Saturday, April 16 to learn more and meet other prospective leaders.
AND PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
