Mid Century Modern Exhibition
On View Now
The MidCentury Modern (“MCM”) era finds its genesis in the Bauhaus in Berlin, Germany, 1919. As pre-WWII tensions compelled many architects and designers to immigrate to other countries, many came to the United States.
These architects and designers flourished in US with the high-point of their influence being generally recognized between 1930 to 1965, but we see a great deal of their influence today in all manner of design as seen in The Museum’s MCM exhibition.
Pioneering builder and real estate developer, Joseph Eichler, was instrumental in bringing MCM architecture (“Eichler Homes”) to subdivisions in Granada Hills, CA, ‘The Highlands’ in San Mateo, CA and select housing developments on the east coast, too.
