Close To Completion: Expo Line Phase 2 “More than 90% Done”

The much-awaited Expo Line train is making its way westward, with a test train pulling into Palms Station during a press event this Monday morning. Mayor Garcetti, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, and Councilmember Mike Bonin joined other city officials in praising the project, which will connect downtown Los Angeles with Santa Monica and the Westside.

The project is generally on schedule and on budget. While an official opening date has not been set, Metro estimates that the line will be completed in April 2016.

The Expo Line’s Phase I currently runs from the 7th Street/Metro Center station in downtown LA to the Culver City station near downtown Culver City. Phase II will open seven additional stations, and will allow Angelenos to travel from downtown to the beach in under 50 minutes.
