Mayor Garcetti, Councilman Krekorian Host Official City of LA Armenian Genocide Centennial Commemoration Event

Elected Officials, Hundreds of Angelenos Will Attend Event Featuring Speakers, Music, Dancing and Pomegranate Tree Dedication

LOS ANGELES- This Thursday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Councilmember Paul Krekorian will host the City of LA’s official commemoration marking the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. There will be speakers, a pomegranate tree planting on City Hall lawn and entertainment. The City recognizes the massacre and dislocation of 1.5 million Armenians that began 100 years ago as a genocide. Los Angeles and the surrounding area is home to the largest populations of Armenians outside of Armenia, with more than 200,000 people calling it home.
