Will you join us April 18 to keep the L.A. River beautiful?
The Great Los Angeles River CleanUp on April 18th is focused on the Middle portion of the L.A. River. We’re cleaning up 13 sites this year because each area of the Los Angeles River is unique and requires special attention.
Choose from these six volunteer sites on April 18:
-
Los Feliz Blvd in Atwater Village was the location of the very first CleanUp 26 years ago!
-
Sunnynook Footbridge in Atwater Village has an incredible view of the River, tall willow trees, ducks and other waterfowl.
-
The Arroyo Seco Confluence was the original water source for the Pueblo that would later become Los Angeles. You’ll spot red-legged stilts and swallow nests under the bridge.
-
Fletcher Dr & Bowtie Parcel is home to a historic bridge and lots of wildlife like herons, ducks and egrets. The River Rover will brings its hands-on exhibits to volunteers at this site on the day of the CleanUp.
-
Marsh Park in Elysian Valley is next to the Elysian Valley Bike Path and has a great view of some little waterfalls on the River.
-
Steelhead Park in Elysian Valley is a shady park with native plants and an outdoor classroom. It’s named for the Steelhead Trout that were once plentiful in the River.
Let’s work and celebrate together from 9:00 AM to Noon. There will be live bands, giveaways, family activities and refreshments. All volunteers get a tote bag and a t-shirt designed by local artist Christian Kasperkovitz.
P.S. You can also volunteer on April 25 on the Lower L.A. River. Check out our main CleanUp Event Page for more info.
