Expect traffic delays and congestion on Thursday and Friday, March 12-13 as President Barack Obama attends events in Los Angeles. The following information regarding street closures, bus routes and areas to avoid is from the Los Angeles Police Department:

Thursday, March 12
Avoid the following:

  • Around Sepulveda Boulevard between Lincoln and Century boulevards from 3-5 p.m.
  • Around North Hollywood Way between West Empire Avenue and North Glenoaks Boulevard from 3:30-5 p.m.
  • Around Sheldon Street between Roscoe Boulevard and San Fernando Road from 3:30-5 p.m.
  • Around Highland Avenue between the Hollywood Bowl and Sunset Boulevard from 4-6 p.m.
  • Around Ocean Avenue between Pico and San Vicente boulevards from 4-7:30 p.m.
  • Around San Vicente Boulevard between Ocean Avenue and 25th Street from 4-7:30 p.m.
  • Around Ocean Avenue between San Vicente and Pico boulevards from 6- 8 p.m.
  • Around Overland Avenue between National Place and Tennessee Avenue from 7-8:30 p.m.
  • Around West Pico Boulevard between Overland Avenue and Century Park East from 7-8:30 p.m.
  • Around Avenue of the Stars between West Pico and West Olympic boulevards from 7-8:30 p.m.

Hard closures will occur at the following locations:

  • Northbound and southbound lanes of Sepulveda Boulevard, between Lincoln and Century boulevards for an eight-minute period between 3:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Hollywood Boulevard, eastbound and westbound traffic, between North Orange Drive and North Highland Avenue from 4:25-5:45 p.m.
  • Hawthorne Avenue, eastbound and westbound traffic, between North Orange Drive and North Highland Avenue from 4:25-5:45 p.m.
  • 20th Street between Marguerita and Carlyle avenues (City of Santa Monica) from 4-7:30 p.m.
  • 19th Street between Marguerita and Carlyle avenues (City of Santa Monica) from 6:15-7:30 p.m.
  • Avenue of the Stars, 1½ southbound lanes from Galaxy Way
  • The following bus routes will be rerouted to utilize alternate stops during the above listed times: MTA buses 156, 212, 217, 222 and 312. Riders should contact the MTA for any alternate locations.

Friday, March 13
Avoid the following:

  • Around West Pico Boulevard between Avenue of the Stars and Westwood Boulevard from 6-8 a.m.
  • Around Overland Avenue between West Olympic and National boulevards from 6-8 a.m.
  • Around South Centinela Avenue between Pico and Ocean Park boulevards from 6-8 a.m.
