Midtown NoHo’s #NoButtsLA Campaign Draws Awareness to Cigarette Litter
After several “traditional” neighborhood clean-ups, the Mid-Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council’s Beautification Committee realized what a significant problem cigarette butts are in our communities. To bring citywide attention to this issue, the Committee created a campaign called #NoButtsLA.
#NoButtsLA is a cheeky campaign aimed at bringing attention to the incredible amount of littered cigarette butts in our city. According to the Beautification Committee, “We believe cleaner environments discourage further littering, thus keeping our neighborhoods clean.”
Mid-Town North Hollywood would like to invite you to participate in #NoButtsLA, which will be launched on Sunday, April 19th, 2015 as a contribution to the Earth Day movement and part of a larger no-littering awareness initiative. The ask is an easy one:
1) It can be as simple as informing your community to pick up and properly dispose of cigarette butts on April 19th, and using the hashtag #NoButtsLA to tag social media posts and track our city-wide participation and progress. Or..
2) You can take it as far as joining our cigarette butt focused clean-up or create a cigarette butt focused clean-up event in your own community on April 19th.
Start using the #NoButtsLA hashtag today to draw attention to this issue. The Mid-Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council will be developing a simple marketing plan that you can use on your social media leading up to April 19th.
