Dear Neighbors and Friends.
On Feb. 4, 2015, I introduced legislation to give every registered voter in this great state a stronger voice in California elections. (More HERE; Spanish version HERE.) If Senate Bill 163 is approved, every registered voter in the state would receive a vote-by-mail ballot before all primary, special and general elections. The voter could choose to take the ballot to the polling place or to mail it in. The choice is theirs.
The goal? Reverse a years-long trend of declining participation in the most basic of our civic duties – voting. SB 163 would help ensure every registered voter statewide has an easy choice between either voting by mail or voting at their polling place.
As many of you know, voting today can be a challenge. Sometimes life and making a living just gets in the way! You deserve to have voting made an easy part of your life. You deserve to have the freedom to choose how and when you vote. Having your mail-in ballot at the ready would give you a better chance to be heard.
