Is your child safety seat installed correctly?
Road injuries are the leading cause of preventable deaths and injuries to children in the United States. Properly installed child safety seats are the most effective way to protect young children involved in motor vehicle crashes, reducing the risk of fatal injury by up to 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers ages 1 to 4. Unfortunately, studies have found that 73 percent of car seats were installed incorrectly.
Is your child’s car seat installed properly?
Stop by the event to have your child safety seat checked out by certified inspectors representing the California Highway Patrol. This free event is open to all ages and will include Child ID Kits with fingerprints and a photograph – one of the most important tools used by authorities to aid in the recovery of a missing person.

Free Tax Filing Workshop & Resource Fair
I am excited to join Board of Equalization Chairman Jerome Horton, Senator Ben Allen and LA County Assessor Jeffrey Prang in hosting a Free Income Tax Preparation & Family Resource Fair at Santa Monica College on Saturday, February 28.
Free tax preparation assistance will be available to families in Los Angeles County with household incomes of $53,000 or less.* The Family Resource Fair is open to everyone from 10:00am to 2:00pm and will offer information about:

- Job Preparation Assistance
- Food & Nutrition Service
- Discount Telephone service
- Low-Cost Auto Insurance
- Heath Screenings: Glucose, Blood Pressure, & Body Mass Index (BMI)
