These workshops focus on tenants’ rights. Learn about federal and state fair housing laws that protect individuals from housing discrimination. Topics will include: discrimination against families with children, disability rights, reasonable accommodations and modifications for people with disabilities, advertising guidelines, and sexual harassment.
The workshops will also provide an overview of the Rent Stabilization Ordinance and landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities regarding evictions, rent increases, and security deposits.
The workshops will be presented by HCIDLA’s Rent Stabilization Division and the Housing Rights Center.
The Department of Consumer Affairs will participate in the presentations on November 20th and 25th.
The Inner City Law Center, which offers free legal services to low-income persons, will conduct presentations on November 6th and 18th.
