Ninth Annual Frogtown Art Walk

L.A.’s annual free art show celebration returns with community involvement, art installations, music on three stages and river-related exhibits.
Event is co-sponsored by CD13 and Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell.
WHO: The artists, artisans, and architects of Elysian Valley (aka Frogtown) welcome art-lovers of all ages to tours their galleries, studios and surrounding streets of this working class neighborhood along the L.A. River.
WHAT: Frogtown Art Walk celebrates its eclectic neighborhood that’s now home to a flourishing art scene. Stroll the streets to discover galleries, studios and impromptu art venues of local artists. This year’s offerings include:
- Marcelle Gravel’s installation of kinetic birds will premiere along the river.
- Joint art installation with California State Parks at Bowtie Parcel.
- Music on three stages including the popular local band, I See Hawks.
- Project 51 kicks off its yearlong “Play the LA River” event with a series of art events/installation at and around Marsh Park.
- Local entomologists will set up ultraviolet night lighting equipment to discover resident insects of the area.
- River advocates will begin a balloon map project (weather balloon and a digital camera) to chart 51 miles of the LA River starting with Frogtown.
- Kids of all ages can engage in educational activities at FOLAR’s River Rover, a super-sized rolling interpretive center.
- Pedi-cabs will ferry people alongside the river.
