Assemblymember Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Mental & Behavioral Health, invites you to attend an important joint hearing being convened with the Assembly Select Committee on Justice Reinvestment that will examine the interactions between law enforcement and persons with mental illnesses.
In the aftermath of recent events, Assemblymember Ridley-Thomas believes our community needs a greater understanding of the current training of law enforcement personnel with regard to their interactions with persons suffering from mental illness. This public event offers stakeholders an opportunity to learn about best practices and strategic opportunities for improvement.
Mental health advocates, healthcare providers, and officials from state and local law enforcement agencies will provide testimony at the joint hearing.
