Are you compassionate and looking to help your neighbors? Are you willing to provide support and resources during times of crisis? Can you commit to volunteering every month for at least one year? If so, Mayor Garcetti’s Crisis Response Team (CRT) is looking for you! Applications for the Spring 2014 are now open. Being a CRT volunteer is an extremely rewarding experience, as our members provide support and resources to those facing tragedy in our community.
Members of the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team (CRT) are volunteers who respond to traumatic incidents at the request of the Los Angeles Police and Los Angeles Fire Departments. CRT volunteers provide immediate on-scene crisis intervention, act as a liaison between the victim and emergency personnel and give referrals to victims and their families affected by a death, a
violent crime or other traumatic incidents. These incidents include homicides, suicides, serious traffic accidents, natural deaths and multi-casualty incidents.
Those interested in volunteering are required to complete an application and attend an interview session. The seven-week training program for the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team provides volunteers with the information, training and support to be able to respond to crisis situations as a member of the CRT. Applications for the Spring 2014 class are due Friday, April 18th.
What: Crisis Response Team Volunteer Program Training
When: 2 nights a week for 3 hours (6pm-9pm) for 7 weeks
Where: LAPD Headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles
Total classroom hours: 42 hours
Spring 2014 Dates: Monday, May 5 – Wednesday, June 18
