The natural barrier created by the Santa Monica Mountains means that most people traveling between these areas are funneled primarily onto the I-405 Freeway\, already ranked as one of the most traveled urban highways in the nation. More than 400\,000 people travel through this area every day to commute to work\, school\, and other destinations along the freeway and beyond. \nMetro is conducting a Feasibility Study (Study) to identify and evaluate a range of high-capacity rail transit alternatives between the San Fernando Valley and LAX\, including connections to existing and planned Metro bus and rail lines\, including the Orange\, Purple\, and Expo Lines. A number of alignments and station locations will be considered for the various rail alternatives. The study is expected to take approximately 20 months\, with work beginning in December 2017 and concluding in Summer/Fall 2019. Its findings will be the basis for future environmental analysis and project refinement.

DESCRIPTION:Metro is making strides to improve travel between the San Fernando Valley\, the Westside and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Metro is conducting a Feasibility Study to identify and evaluate a range of high-capacity rail transit alternatives between the San Fernando Valley and LAX\, including connections to existing and planned Metro bus and rail lines (Orange\, Purple and Expo Lines). \nThese public meetings will include an overview of the study and initial concepts for the San Fernando Valley-Westside connection. \nSan Fernando Valley\nSaturday\, June 9\, 2018\, 10am-12pm\nMarvin Braude Constituent Service Center\n6262 Van Nuys Bl\nVan Nuys\, CA 91401 \nJoin us for a live webcast of the June 12 meeting beginning at 6:30pm at\nhttp://bit.ly/MetroSepulveda. \nAs part of the project kickoff\, Metro is conducting a short online survey to understand more about the travelers who currently use the Sepulveda Corridor\, including the 405 Freeway\, Sepulveda Boulevard and the hillside roads connecting the San Fernando Valley\, Westside\, LAX\, South Bay\, and other areas in the L.A. region. The survey includes questions about travel times\, routes\, destinations\, and important considerations for commuters including travel time\, consistency of trips\, convenience\, and environmental consciousness.
