Green Living Fair

The 4th Annual Green Living Fair is a FREE family-friendly event that creates excitement and enthusiasm for “greening” our lives and becoming more environmentally conscious citizens. By using this fun, environmentally responsible forum of education and entertainment, attendees get to learn first hand about water conservation, sustainable best practices, importance of native plants, urban farming, climate change, and more.

Be a part of a grass-roots effort to ignite ideas, improve quality of life for all living things, and spur on civic activism.

*Trees will be available if you live or own property within the City of Los Angeles. Trees must be planted on private property. Verification is required (DL, ID or DWP bill). Trees are distributed on a first come, first served basis and must be planted in the ground.

FREE FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENT in Studio City!

Please walk, run, bike or take public transportation to this wonderful annual “green” event.
NEW this year will be the WORKSHOP tent where 4 informative seminars will take place on a host of topics such as: using rain barrels, safe biking, what energy saving rebates are available (including water efficiency) and maintaining drought tolerant yards and gardens.

Other event activities include:

  • Bring your home-made pie to enter the BEST BAKED PIE CONTEST at 10:30 am.
  • Receive a FREE shade tree (while supplies last)
  • Hear live ​music performances by local artists
  • Stop by each of the 35 participating schools, nonprofits, civic and city organizations and local associations that want to share interactive activities to information
  • ​Partake in The Village Garders’ RAFFLE!​

On Monday, November 2, 2015 from 6 pm – 7:30 pm the Studio City Neighborhood Council will host a free seminar, “GROW YOUR BUSINESS: Free Solutions For Your Business Needs”. Come hear Councilmember Paul Krekorian speak on the latest news from City Hall on budgets, finance and economic development, learn how to get free business consulting from ICON Community Development Corporation on everything from starting a business, writing a business plan and sourcing a loan, see how the City of Los Angeles Office of Finance helps you a business owner to entrepreneur, and get a better understanding as to the how the State has programs to incentives for you to partake in when a representative from the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) presents.

Neighborhood Councils Team Up for Green Living Fair

Neighborhood Councils Team Up for Green Living Fair

Fresh on the heels of the Mayor’s announcement of the new Sustainable City pLAn, the Studio City community proudly presents the Second Annual Green Living Fair on Saturday, April 18.

Join five Neighborhood Councils, over 35 conservation organizations, and Councilmember Paul Krekorian for this free, family-friendly event that will feature live entertainment, kids’ activities, raffles, and free fruit tree adoption.

Are you a baker? Show off your best pie recipe in the Pie Contest — be sure to enter by 10am!

The day’s events will also include demonstrations and information about sustainable lifestyle choices including urban farming, beekeeping, water and river conservation, native plants and wildlife, recycling, and more. You can also bring your used batteries and light bulbs for recycling on-site.

The Studio City Neighborhood Council and Village Gardeners are pairing up to bring the 2nd Annual Green Living Fair!

Last year we had over 600 people attend this free community event – they baked pies (for contest), listened to live music, watched a theater troop and Irish dance troop, visited the over 30 nonprofits and schools and took a fruit or shade tree home.

We would like to get your organizations on board as participants – booth or entertainers.

HOW to GET INVOLVED:

  1. Email me lcdavis@studiocitync.org with YES – NO – MAYBE with your organization name + contact info
  2. Tell me what “activity” you will be doing at your booth or as entertainer
  3. Tell me if you want to do a “presentation” ie. how to compost, how to create an easy vegetable garden, healthy cooking in 15 minutes, etc.
  4. Share ad’l ideas to make this a wonderful event!
  5. DEADLINE to let me know your involvement: January 30, 2015

Also, please share this with other “like” groups who would benefit from this wonderful community event.
