Rep. Cárdenas Issued the Following Statement on Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Tony Cárdenas (D-CA) released the following statement marking Asian Pacific American Heritage Month:

“This May, I am honored to join my colleagues in the Democratic Caucus in celebrating the countless contributions Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) have made to America. The AAPI community is a fast-growing racial group in America, and Congress has a responsibility to make sure that AAPI communities have the resources they need to continue to grow and to thrive.

“From artists to entrepreneurs to educators to public service leaders, AAPIs are a fundamental part of what makes our nation uniquely diverse and competitive. The AAPI community stands as a reminder that diversity is a key driver of innovation and a catalyst to economic development.

“They also stand as a reminder of the injustice that some families face due to our broken immigration system. Congress has a responsibility to adopt immigration policies that make sense for our families and for our economy. I proudly stand in support of the AAPI community and look forward to celebrating its vibrant heritage and contributions all month long.”
