LA Animal Services and Petco Team Up to Find Homes for Orphaned Cats

Los Angeles, CA, April 27, 2016 – The City of Los Angeles Department of Los Angeles Services is very excited to announce a new adoption partnership with Petco and the Petco Foundation to help more orphaned cats meet their new families. Starting today, adoptable cats from the West Valley Animal Shelter will have the opportunity to find a home of their own at the Petco in Porter Ranch (19869 Rinaldi St., Porter Ranch, CA 91326).

“This adoption partnership is a great way to showcase adoptable cats in an environment outside of the shelter that pet owners visit already for their pet products, it’s a natural fit,” said Jan Selder, director of field operations of LA Animal Services. “The cats are able to play and lounge in a spacious habitat that invites potential adopters in to play and socialize with them.”

LA Animal Services, Petco and the Petco Foundation are committed to helping match wonderful adoptable felines with loving families. During LA Animal Services 2014-15 fiscal year, 20,570 cats entered city shelters and 11,309 were placed into homes of their own or in partnership with private rescue partners.

“Cats make great companions and, with the support of Petco and the Petco Foundation, we hope to find homes for even more amazing cats this year,” said Brenda Barnette. “By adopting a pet, you are saving a life and you are contributing to help make Los Angeles a no-kill city.”

The adoption fees, for cats 4 months old or older, are currently underwritten by a generous grant from the ASPCA. All adoptable cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
