Hello Angelenos,

Happy Superbowl Sunday!  Today is the most American of all the days in the calendar year, minus the 4th of July.  I wish you many buffalo wings and little plates full of nachos and carrot sticks.  I am not going to say who I am rooting for, but as an Indianapolis Colts fan, I have enjoyed watching games with Peyton Manning as the quarterback.

This coming Wednesday is our General Meeting, and I would like to invite you to attend.  We are working on several issues that continue to come before our community.  The child sex trafficking in the Valley is the number one public safety concern of neighborhoods, and we are looking at new and different ways to combat this epidemic.

At our next Council Meeting we will be voting on on allocating $20,000 to purchase Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and license reading software to start collecting data on pimps and johns to stop this plague we are facing day in and day out.

We are also beginning to undertake the very ambitious notion of creating a “Business Improvement District” (BID) along Van Nuys Boulevard from Sherman Oaks through Van Nuys all the way up to Pacoima.  (The entire length of Van Nuys Boulevard, including Panorama City & Arleta as well.)  If you would like to get involved and help create this BID, please let me know.  Cheers.

It is a special privilege to serve as the Council President and Honorary Mayor of Van Nuys, and thank you for this great opportunity to be a part of our community.
