What We Do Series:  LADOT’s Hollywood-Wilshire District Engineering Office

LADOT’s Hollywood-Wilshire District Engineering Office is under the direction of Transportation Engineer Jeannie Shen.  The office is located at 6501 Fountain Avenue in the heart of Hollywood.  Jeannie and her staff are responsible for the traffic engineering concerns from the 700,000+ residents and businesses of council districts 4, 10 and 13. The team’s goal is to provide excellent customer service by responding to MyLADOT online requests, telephone queries and walk-ins on a daily basis.


LADOT’s Outstanding Performers
Members of the Transportation Committee along with LADOT General Manager Seleta Reynolds recognized Traffic Officer Mikisha Shirley of the Parking Enforcement and Traffic Control Division and Tina Backstrom of the Communications Office for their great efforts in providing excellent customer service and making our department a better place to work.

Traffic Officer Mikisha Shirley, currently assigned to the Venice Beach area, is a dedicated employee who takes pride in providing outstanding customer service to the constituents of the City of Los Angeles.  She consistently goes above and beyond her respective job duties to help the department meet its mission.

Tina Backstrom, as Lead Media Relations Officer excelled – taking on the challenge with professionalism and enthusiasm.  Her ability to communicate and respond to the media with accurate information ensuring transparency is paramount.  Tina recently became certified as a Licensed Traffic Engineer and has been promoted to Engineering Associate III.  She will now be working with LADOT’s Project Delivery Team in the Metro Projects section where she without a doubt will be a great asset.

Congratulations to both of these exemplary employees.

Leimert Park Village Plaza Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Please join LADOT’s People St Program, on Saturday June 27, 2015, 2:00 pm at 3341 W 43rd Place in Los Angeles, as they welcome the Leimert Park Village Plaza to its growing list of accomplishments.  LADOT diligently worked with the Office of Council President Herb Wesson and community partner, the Institute for Maximum Human Potential, to create the city’s newest people oriented space.

DASH Bus Shelters Will Integrate Real Time Arrival Info with Metro
Today, Mayor Eric Garcetti, Councilmember Joe Busciano and Public Works Commission Vice President, Monica Rodriguez, unveiled the city’s first integrated Real Time bus arrival information at the Spring Street mid-block bus shelter located in front of Grand Park.  This partnership between the two largest transit providers in the County of Los Angeles also brings the added benefit of WiFi reception, phone charging station, and better LED lighting for safety of people who ride transit.  Look for more bus shelters to come on line in the near future.

Guy Weddington-McCreary Square Dedication
This morning, LADOT engineers and field crew staff joined Councilmembers and Transportation Committee members, Paul Krekorian and Tom LaBonge, to dedicate the intersection of Lankershim Blvd. and Weddington St. in North Hollywood as “Guy Weddington-McCreary Square”. (Pictured to the right.)

The celebration took place at Peddler’s Creamery as a part of People St’s Bicycle Friendly Business program.  Special ‘applause’ to the Historic Core BID and Edward Belden, Peddler’s Creamery business owner, for partnering with us!
