    • a. Speech and Presentation from the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. The Mayor of Los Angeles or a member of his staff will discuss homelessness in Los Angeles, and how we can work together to address this important issue. (Background: Eric Garcetti is the 42nd Mayor of Los Angeles. His “back to basics” agenda is focused on job creation and solving everyday problems for L.A. residents. Garcetti was elected four times by his peers to serve as President of the Los Angeles City Council from 2006 to 2012. From 2001 until taking office as Mayor, he served as the Councilmember representing the 13th District which includes Hollywood, Echo Park, Silver Lake, and Atwater Village — all of which were dramatically revitalized under Garcetti’s leadership.)     • b. Speech and Presentation from the Office of Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer. The Los Angeles City Attorney or a member of his staff will discuss homelessness in Los Angeles, and how we can work together to address this important issue. (Background: Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer has long been one of California’s leading lawyers and lawmakers. He has brought a collaborative, problem-solving focus to the City Attorney’s office, emphasizing quality of life improvements in L.A.’s neighborhoods. Already Feuer is expanding the Neighborhood prosecutor Program, leading efforts to prevent gun violence, developing innovative approaches to gang violence, domestic abuse and school safety, and aggressively pursuing environmental justice and other efforts to protect vulnerable Angelenos.) — (Darren Martinez, Nicole Carcel) — 10 minutes
    • c. Speech and Presentation from Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian. The Councilman or a member of his staff will address homelessness and how it affects the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles as a whole. Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Paul Krekorian is a member of the Los Angeles City Council, where he serves as the chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee. Paul graduated from Reseda’s Cleveland High School before earning his B.A. in political science from the University of Southern California and a law degree from UC Berkeley. Upon graduating, he spent two decades practicing business, entertainment, and property litigation, while also devoting his time to reduce domestic and gang violence.     • d. Speech and Presentation from Los Angeles City Councilwoman Nury Martinez. The Councilwoman or a member of her staff will address homelessness and how it affects the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles as a whole. (Background: Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Nury Martinez has dedicated her life to her community, working to create good-paying local jobs, keeping our communities safe and advocating for our children and students. A neighborhood watch captain, homeowner and a mother, Nury is working to deliver resources to Valley residents.) (Linda Levitan, Nury Martinez) — 10 minutes.
    • e. Speech and Presentation from Congressman Tony Cardenas. The Congressman or a member of his staff will address homelessness and how it affects the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles as a whole. (Background: After 16 years in public office, Cárdenas has made history, becoming the first Latino elected to represent the San Fernando Valley in our United States Congress. He will continue his passionate commitment to the community in this new capacity. He currently sits on the House of Representatives Natural Resources and Budget, and Oversight and Government Reform committees.) — 10 minutes.
    • f. Speech and Presentation by Council President Radomir Luza, North Hollywood West Neighborhood Council. (Background: The North Hollywood West Neighborhood Council of the City of Los Angeles is dedicated to serve as a voice in the best interest of the community quality of life within the City’s decision-making process and to provide an open forum in which stakeholders may discuss and resolve community issues.) — 10 minutes.
    • g. Speech and Presentation by Barbara Wilson, Mental Health Policy Specialist. (Background: The Mental Health Hook Up agency provides referrals to mental health and other community services. We design high quality cost effective programs for hospitals and other intensive programs and we coordinate care management for people who suffer from severe and chronic forms of mental illness.) — 10 minutes
    • h. Speech and Presentation by Philip F. Mangano, President and CEO of The American Round Table to Abolish Homelessness. (Background: The American Round Table to Abolish Homelessness has one goal, one mission, one intent — to abolish the human tragedy of homelessness in our country. We work with researchers, innovators, and practitioners to identify what’s working to end homelessness in local communities: NEXT PRACTICES that will forward our mission. Through rapid dissemination and peer-to-peer colloquy with local leaders in cities, counties, and states, we make new strategies visible and foster inclusive local partnerships to scale solutions and plan the reduction and abolition of homelessness.) — 10 minutes
    • i. Speech and Presentation by Dr. Adrienne Sheff, Director of Adult Services and Bonnie Roth, LCSW, Asst. Director of Homeless and Veterans Services. (Background: The San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center, Inc. founded in 1970, is a private, non-profit agency dedicated to improving the mental health of individuals and families within the community. Primary emphasis is placed on providing services to children, adolescents and transitional age youth with serious emotional disorders, and services for adults and older adults with severe and persistent mental illness. The Center is committed to treating all consumers with dignity and enhancing their quality of life.) — 10 minutes
    • j. Speech and Presentation by Don LeStrange, Van Nuys LAPD Volunteer and Community Police Advisory Board (CPAB) Homeless Committee Chair. (Background: The Community Police Advisory Board (C-PAB) is a group of volunteers who live or work in the Van Nuys Area, comprised of the following neighborhoods: Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys, Valley Glen, Sherman Village, Valley Village and a small portion of Studio City. C-PAB members act as a liaison between the LAPD and the citizens to strengthen the lines of communication. All C-PAB members will put forth their best effort and participate in agreed upon committee assignments for the betterment of the Community in the Van Nuys Divisional areas.) — 10 minutes.
    • k. Speech and Presentation by Anthony Gonzales, Representative of Village Family Center in North Hollywood. (Background: The Village Family Services is Southern California’s leading bilingual family wellness agency providing a comprehensive range of services to achieve permanency and safety for neglected and abused children and youth. Our approach centers on family wellness amid client-centered, strength-focused, trauma- informed, evidence-based and culturally competent care delivered by a compassionate, bilingual staff. The Village Family Services envisions a day where all children and youth are free of social, emotional, verbal and physical harm.) — 10 minutes.
    • l. Speech and Presentation by Ryan Bell from Community Outreach for PATH in Los Angeles. (Background: PATH is a family of agencies working together to end homelessness for individuals, families, and communities throughout Southern California. We strive to do this by prioritizing housing while providing customized supportive services for people in need. Our agencies each address homelessness in a different way—supportive services, permanent housing development, support for homeless families, and community engagement—all of which ultimately help the people we serve make it home.) — 10 minutes.
    • m. Representatives from the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission. (Background: Established in an effort to serve the homeless in the greater San Fernando Valley, the roots of the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission grow deep, span over 40 years and were established as an outreach ministry of the Rescue Mission Alliance – a Christian based non-profit organization. Founded in 1998, the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission began as the Rescue Survival Outreach Services (S.O.S.) Program serving meals to the Valley’s homeless. In 2002, the Mission launched the Family Shelter program in a collaborative effort with San Fernando Valley area churches in response to the critical unmet need for a year round emergency shelter.) — 10 minutes
    • n. Speech and Presentation by Brandon Beckman, Director of Program Services for The Midnight Mission. (Background: The Midnight Mission offers a path to self-sufficiency to men, women and children who have lost everything. Our emergency services, 12-step recovery program, job training, education and work programs offer a compassionate bridge to productive lives. We remove obstacles to self-sufficiency and provide the accountability and structure that people who are experiencing homelessness need to rejoin their communities. Our conviction and commitment to their success define us.) — 10 minutes
    • o. Speech and Presentation from John Horn, Representative from Los Angeles Family Housing. (Background: John has been with LAFH since 1996. He manages temporary housing and services for the agency’s single adult population, including chronically homeless individuals and veterans and also serves as co-chair of the San Fernando Valley Homeless Coalition. John holds a BA and a Masters in Public Administration from Cal State University, Northridge.) — 10 minutes
    • p. Speech and Presentation by Jim Randall, Maria Funk and Lisa Wong, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. (Background: The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) is the largest county mental health department in the country. DMH directly operates 75 program sites and more than 100 co-located sites. DMH contracts with approximately 1,000 providers, including non-governmental agencies and individual practitioners who provide a spectrum of mental health services to people of all ages to support hope, wellness and recovery.) — 10 minutes
    • q. Speech and Presentation by Mark Gale, National Alliance on Mental Illness, San Fernando Valley. (Background: NAMI-SFV’s mission is to provide FREE education, support and advocacy to anyone impacted by mental illness in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys. NAMI San Fernando Valley is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by mental illness.) — 10 minutes
    • r. Speech and Presentation from Representatives from Homeless Health Care Los Angeles. (Background: For homeless individuals we provide a variety of services including housing, case management, individual therapy and support groups, referral to treatment, family services, primary medical care, and an array of additional holistic services. Clients are referred from the HHCLA Harm Reduction Center or outreach team, hospitals, community clinics, or temporary shelters.) — 10 minutess. Additional Speakers & Final Comments
